The INTERCEPT Blood System has been designed to meet blood center needs for process control and to integrate easily into current lab procedures. Implementing the INTERCEPT Blood System pathogen inactivation requires installation of a UVA illuminator and use of disposable processing sets. Operator training is straightforward and utilizes techniques generally known among blood center staff. The treatment process occurs in parallel with testing for viral markers, allowing blood centers to maintain current product release times.
